Diagnosis: Verumontanum mucosal gland
hyperplasia.
Comment: The
verumontanum is situated along the posterior prostatic urethral wall
and is the
anatomical site where the ejaculatory ducts open laterally (Fig.1).The
glands
at this site may be hyperplastic mimicking adenocarcinoma. Rarely, this
feature
may also be seen on needle biopsies. Characteristically the corpora
amylacea
may show several colors including red, orange, yellow or brown. The
glands are
similar to normal acini. Basal cells are present and positive for
34βE12 and
p63 on immunohistochemistry.
